A week of outdoor activities culminated Friday at the Little Cypress Intermediate School (LCI). The Adventure Dash Fun Run provided outdoor events for the students to compete in while receiving donations for the school.
Principal Michael Ridout said the week combined fun with raising much needed funds. “This is the culmination of a week of fun that we had here that our student council brought to our campus to increase health awareness, have a whole lot of fun, and raise money for our recess area,” Ridout commented.
Stacy Gillespie with the group organizing the obstacle course events during the week informed that the students, parents, teachers, and friends raised money by getting donations online. Students received rewards for their participation doing the events.
The final activity on Friday was a slip-and-slime event featuring six of the teachers at LCI. By the school reaching its donation goal Ridout got a triple dose of fun. He acted brave facing whatever was to come with a big smile.
The principal did the slip-and-slime; was covered in whip cream, chocolate sauce, and crunched nuts like a sundae; and then was dunked with a bucket of ice water. Gillespie indicated Little Cypress Intermediate raised $17,600 during the week.
