Sarah Jeanette Miller, 91, passed to her heavenly reward on June 14, 2026, surrounded by the family and friends she loved so dearly. Born in Toxey, Alabama, on March 6, 1935, to Doyle and Daisy Nealey, Jeanette moved to Orange, Texas, at the age of 14. It was during her time at Lutcher Stark High School that she met the love of her life, Arthur H. Miller. The high school sweethearts married on January 6, 1955, and went on to share a beautiful life blessed with two sons, Toney and Michael.
A familiar and friendly face in the community, Jeanette was a charter employee of the Kmart in Orange, working at the jewelry counter from the day the store opened until her retirement. She greeted every customer with a warm smile. Her happiest moments were spent crocheting, gardening, and cooking for large gatherings. Jeanette and Arthur operated under a generous house rule: if you were under their roof for ten minutes, you were officially family.
Jeanette was reunited in heaven with her parents; her husband, Arthur; her youngest son, Michael A. Miller; her brother, M. Amos Nealey; and her sister, Cecile Bailey Davis.
Her memory will be cherished by her surviving son, Toney D. Miller, and his wife, Suzanne, of Orange; her granddaughters, Samantha Maddox (Cory) of Moss Bluff, LA, Candace LaSalle (Randy) of Orange, TX, and Lillie Cochran of Santa Fe, TX; and her four great-granddaughters, Makayle Peveto, Natalie Peveto, Addison LaSalle, and Emerson LaSalle.
Special Thanks to Sherry Harrell and Kay Donnelly for your friendship and help you gave to Jeanette over the years.
Thanks also to Sabine Place and Heart to Heart Hospice for making Jeanette’s life so much better.
