Ruby Alice Hutson, 88, of Deweyville, Texas, passed away on January 3, 2025, at Focused Care in Orange.
Funeral services will be 1:00 p.m., Thursday, January 9, 2025, at Calvary Baptist Church in West Orange. Officiating will be Brother Jeff Bell and Brother David Millner. Burial will follow at King Cemetery in Hartburg.
Visitation will be from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m., Wednesday, January 8, 2025, at Calvary Baptist Church in West Orange.
Born in Mount Vernon, Washington, on February 6, 1936, she was the daughter of Eula Cook and Letha Cook. Ruby dedicated many years of her life to serving as a cafeteria worker at WOISD, where she was known for her kindness and gracious demeanor. A devoted Christian, Ruby was a longtime member of Calvary Baptist Church, where her faith played an integral role in her life. She was passionate about her beliefs and cherished the connections made through Bible study. She devoted much of her week preparing to teach Sunday School. Ruby enjoyed many hobbies that brought her joy. She had a special love for painting, gardening, and cooking for her family. Her garden was often adorned with beautiful roses, reflecting her nurturing spirit. Friends and family alike appreciated her pristine home. Ruby will be remembered not only for her accomplishments but for the love and warmth she shared with others. Her legacy of kindness and devotion will continue to inspire those who knew her.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Eula and Letha Cook; husband of 58 years, Reverend Billy Hutson; first husband, Dwight Moody; son, Michael Hutson; grandson, Samuel Moody; daughters-in-law, Sherry Moody, Julie Hutson, and Monica Hutson.
She is survived by her sons, Ronnie Moody, Don Moody and wife Renee, and Paul Hutson; grandchildren, Alyson, Ashley, Blake, Billy, Stephanie, Michael, Reagan, Raliegh, Olivia, Hannah, and Caleb; great grandchildren, Bryson, Makenna, Athan, Mason, Lilly, Isla, Isaac, and Lena; siblings, Alice Sitton and Bill Cook; church family, Pete and Sandy Amy, Mike Shugart, Geniva James, and Billy Frederick.
Pallbearers will be Donald Moody, Ronnie Moody, Bryson Lopez, Makkena Moody, Paul Hutson, and Mike Shugart. Honorary pallbearers will be Peter Amy and Billy Frederick.
