
On Monday, April 20, 2026, around 12:33 A.M., Vidor Police Department responded to a reported
residential structure fire in the 200 block of Filmore Street. Dispatch information indicated that a
person was believed to still be inside the residence.
Upon arrival, officers observed the home heavily engulfed in flames. While securing the scene,
officers located one adult female at a neighboring residence.
The female reported that her husband remained inside the home along with several family pets. She
was able to escape after breaking a window and fleeing to the neighboring residence. Emergency
medical personnel from Acadian Ambulance Service provided on-scene treatment for injuries
sustained during her escape. She was initially transported to a local hospital and later transferred to a
specialized medical facility for further treatment.
Orange County ESD 1 worked for several hours to bring the fire under control. During suppression
efforts, firefighters located a deceased adult male inside the residence near the front entryway.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation at this time.
