
A plant on Chemical Row was fined by the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality for illegal air emissions.
The Dow Chemical Company in Orange received an emission penalty of $65,375. TCEQ determined the company released tens of thousands of pounds of volatile organic compounds as fugitive emissions during three separate incidents between April 2022 and March 2023. Half of the fine, $32,688, was paid directly to the state of Texas. A contribution of $32,687 was given to the Southeast Texas Regional Planning Commission to fund air quality monitoring in the Golden Triangle.
