Orange Police Department Captain Cliff Hargrave said investigators don’t know if the two people arrested Monday evening are connected to two more motor dirt bikes that were stolen Monday morning. Boyd Lance Petry, 74, of Orange, passed away on June 22, 2015, at Baptist Hospital in Orange. A graveside service will be 10:00 a.m., Thursday, June 25, 2015, at Evergreen Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5:00 p.m.-8:00 p.m., Wednesday, June 24, 2015, at Claybar Funeral Home in Orange. Born in Indian Bayou, Louisiana, on July 1, 1940, he was the son of Kitchell Petry and Stella Faulk Petry. Boyd retired as a mechanic at Gulf/Chevron after 39 years. He died June 17, 2015 at Orange Villa Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. James Rudolph Sweet was born in Many, LA to Tessie Lee Brown and Elijah Sweet. On Monday, June 22, 2015, around 8:00 p.m., an Orange County Sheriff’s Deputy met with a complainant in the 4200 block of Darlene St., in Orangefield, in reference to recovery of stolen property. The complainant, who resides in the City of Orange, told the Sheriff’s Deputy that he had two motorcycles stolen from him sometime Sunday night, June 21, 2015. Armed Robbery on 16th
Monday night Officers with the City of Orange Police Department were dispatched to 3701 16th Street, Texas Country Store, in reference to an Aggravated Robbery. Upon officers’ arrival, officers made contact with witnesses and the store employees. The suspect was identified by employees as a white male who was wearing a green “hoodie” style shirt. The male brandished a black handgun, directed customers to lie on the ground and demanded money. The suspect fled the scene with an undetermined amount of cash. The West Orange City Council heard from another landlord Monday who is not happy with the recent sanitation ordinance. During the period allowed for public comments Robert Sepulvado spoke against Ordinance 414. Sepulvado gave a suggestion to the council that there is technology available that could be adapted by West Orange that would alleviate the need for the ordinance.
