Orange Councilman Larry Spears Tuesday said the mother and daughter who were killed last week while walking across MacArthur Drive showed the safety problems on the thoroughfare. Spears and Councilman Pat Pullen spoke about trying to find solutions to make MacArthur safer for pedestrians and vehicles. Accident on Park
A three-vehicle collision on Park Avenue near Link Avenue sent two people to hospitals on Monday afternoon. Orange police report 67-year-old Bonnie Stancoven was taken to St. Elizabeth Hospital in Beaumont and 53-year-old Corliss Mokhantar was taken to Baptist Hospital. Their injuries were not life-threatening. Police said Stancoven was driving an Acura eastbound on Park. Orange is becoming a destination for elite fishing groups. BASS Masters has held two tournaments locally and a redfish tournament is coming to Orange next April. The Commissioners Court Tuesday approved using HOT funds to assist bringing the BASS University 2016 Class to Orange County. John Gothia said the BASS Class is another great way of promoting the outstanding fishing in this area. Gothia informed the Commissioners that the BASS Class brings about 250 people to the area to be taught fishing techniques by six elite BASS Masters fishermen. The Orange Stationer is under new ownership as of November 1, 2015. After 34 years, Henry Seals will be transitioning to the next exciting stage of his life, and Paul and Kim Dickerson of Orange will have the privilege of serving the area.
