On Saturday, January 23, 19 Little Cypress Junior High varsity choir students attended the Texas Music Educators Association (TMEA) annual Solo and Ensemble Contest. Each student learned a solo which was then performed for a judge who gave each student written comments and a score. First Division Superior ratings were earned by 18 students and one Second Division Excellent rating was awarded to the LCJH Cub Choir members. Tax Abatement for Vidor
The City of Vidor wants to attract new citizens to move there. The City Council in Vidor will consider approving an ordinance Thursday that will offer tax abatements for new residential construction in the city. Vidor City Manager Mike Kunst said the idea of the tax abatements has been discussed since the last municipal election in May of 2015. Kunst indicated the city has moved slowly, but is making progress to establish an atmosphere to encourage new growth in Vidor. Orange Council Meets Tuesday
The Orange City Council on Tuesday will vote on awarding a $2.81 million contract for the sewage treatment improvements and on creating a social media coordinator’s position to work under Economic Development Director Jay Trahan. The council will meet at 5:30 p.m. in the council chambers next to the Orange Public Library.
