A 27-year-old man was injured Monday night after he ran off the roadway in the 5600 block of Meeks Drive and hit two trees in a yard. Orange Police report Devin Scott Baugh was not seriously injured and a patrol officer drove him to Baptist Hospital Orange Emergency Room. Police report the collision was about 10 p.m. Monday in a house north of the Allie Payne Road intersection. Baugh was driving a Ford F-150 pickup truck northbound. Court Discusses Line Item Transfers
Routine business made up most of the Commissioners Court’s agenda Tuesday with approval of line item transfers of funds. One of them that was not routine dealt with the transfer of over $12,000 to pay a part-time employee in Records Management. Commissioner Jody Crump did not recall the Court approving the part-timer and there was no money allocated previously in the account to pay the employee. Bears Travel To Jasper Friday
Friday night the Little Cypress-Mauriceville Bears open the season against a familiar opponent in the Jasper Bulldogs. Coach Randy Crouch indicates the Bears have come out of the preseason workouts and two scrimmages in pretty good shape and are ready for the Bulldogs. Coach Crouch points out Jasper lost to graduation their star quarterback Tiger Williams who was the centerpiece of the Bulldogs’ offense last season. Pirates Open Season At Home
The Deweyville Pirates are looking to turn things around with a winning attitude after being put in a lower classification this year. Coach Lance Dale believes the scrimmages have prepared the Pirates to begin the season. Dale states Deweyville scrimmaged two schools in a higher classification to be ready when the games are for real. The real games start Friday for Deweyville with Colmesneil.
