Douglas Wayne Egan, 81, of Florien, Louisiana, formerly of Orange, Texas, passed away on October 2, 2016, in Beaumont, Texas. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, October 5, 2016, at Claybar Funeral Home in Orange. Officiating will be Pastor Derick Addison and Pastor Jimmy Clark. LCJH students earn spots in All Region Choir
On Saturday October 1, 29 Little Cypress Junior High choir students traveled to Lumberton High School to compete for a spot in one of the Texas Music Educators Association (TMEA) All Region Choirs. Students perform two pieces for a panel of 5 judges in a blind audition. The students are then ranked by the judges and the highest ranking students are placed into one of the Region Choirs. This year, 11 students will represent LCJH in the All Region and Honor Choir Concerts which will be held on November 12, at Vidor High School. Debate Team Third
This past weekend, the Little Cypress-Mauriceville High School debate team of Aman Tejani and Akhil Tejani attended the Cypress Lakes/Langham Creek Texas Forensic Association (TFA) qualifying tournament. They placed third, earning points toward qualifying for the TFA State tournament to be held in March, 2017. These qualifying tournaments have the most difficult competition of any debate tournaments in Texas.
