The Orange Lion’s Club District 251 sponsored a countywide Peace Poster Contest. Jaci Doucet, a 7th grade student at Saint Mary Catholic School was a local winner. WOS: Another Win, Another Shutout
The beat down goes on as the West Orange-Stark Mustangs continued to roll up lopsided wins again on Friday night. The Mustangs mauled the Hardin-Jefferson Hawks 62-0 at Hawk Stadium. Coming into the game averaging over 52 points a game and allowing only three, West Orange-Stark (8-0, 2-0) has outscored its two district opponents 130-0. Hardin-Jefferson (4-2, 0-1) lost their district opener and suffered only its second loss of the season. Fire Prevention Program
Volunteer fire fighters from Pinehurst and West Orange were joined by Sparky the fire dog from Bridge City during a fire prevention program Friday at the West Orange Stark Elementary School. Pinehurst Fire Chief Shon Branham says there are many positive points to promoting fire safety with the schools and their students. Branham believes the students take the information to heart which helps makes for safer homes, safer neighborhoods, as well as saving lives and property. Shooting on 8th Street
On Friday, October 14, 2016, at 8:16 pm, officers with the City of Orange Police Department were dispatched to 2609 8th Street, in reference to a disturbance involving a victim with a gun shot wound to the head. Orange Police say officers located a white male inside the residence. He was identified as 46 years-of-age Marvin Cordell Cooper Jr of Orange. Cooper was transported to the local emergency room by Acadian Ambulance for medical treatment. Vidor tames Lions, secures playoff spot
Jenna Smith was crowned Homecoming Queen of Vidor High School during halftime festivities on Friday night at Pirate Stadium in Vidor. Jenna was escorted by her father, Stacy Smith. Using dominant performances by the offense and the defense, the Vidor Pirates celebrated a homecoming victory on Friday night and secured a trip to the playoffs. Trooper Receives Purple Heart
Local state Trooper Kimberly Ousman has received the Texas Department of Public Safety Purple Heart for being injured on the job while investigating an Interstate 10 crash two years. DPS in a news release said Trooper Ousman was injured on Interstate 10 in Orange County on July 23, 2014. The original report on the collision said it happened about 10:47 p.m. eastbound near FM 1136 on a rainy night. A Lake Charles man driving a van crashed into the trooper's patrol car. Early AM Accident on FM 105
At approximately 6:30a.m. Friday, the Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) received a report of a multiple vehicle crash on FM 105 in Orange County. The crash occurred near Old Spanish Trail. A 1996 Ford pickup truck was traveling southbound on FM 105 followed by a 1999 Chevrolet Corvette. A 2002 Honda motorcycle was traveling northbound on FM 105. The driver of the Chevrolet passed the Ford when unsafe and collided with the motorcycle.
