Orange Adding Holiday Décor
The Orange City Hall lawn is set to get a new, expanded Nativity scene, but Jesus, Mary and Joseph won't be alone. Santa and his sleigh will be there, along with a family of Victorian carolers, a toy soldier, a snowman and a Jewish Menorah to provide more light. The Orange City Council on Tuesday is set to review a city staff plan to spend an allocated $20,000 on the holiday decorations. Deborah Bishop, 54, a lifelong resident of Bridge City, passed away on October 21, 2016. A memorial visitation will be held Wednesday, October 26, 2016 from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm at Claybar Funeral Home in Orange. Cremation will be under the direction of Claybar Haven of Rest Crematory. Deborah was born December 6, 1961 in Norfolk, Virginia to Grover and Betty (Rogers) Bishop. She was known for her great sense of humor and her enjoyment of photography. WOCC Reviews Waste Bids
The West Orange City Council did not award a contract for solid waste collection and disposal when it met Monday. The council instead has asked Mayor Roy McDonald to review the submitted bids and execute a contract with one of the three vendors. The committee assigned to review the bids indicated the prices were very close, but each offered different aspects in the collection of the solid waste like different size or number of containers as well as the number of days for collection. 3425 Vote On Day One
The line at the Orange Public Library was to the front door Monday. Big turnout in Orange County on Day One of Early Voting for the Presidential Election. 900 voters turned out in Orange while 606 voted in Bridge City. Vidor had 714 show up and vote while Mauriceville tallied 307 and 898 people voted by mail. 35 military and out of country ballots brought the total to 3425. Search Warrant Served In Roselawn
Local law agencies had a search warrant Friday and raided a house in Roselawn, where they found methamphetamine, equipment to make the drug and counterfeit U.S. currency. Six people were arrested. One of the men was arrested at the same house in May for counterfeit money. 36-year-old Christopher Shaun Drucker (left) was the man at 105 Amaryllis. On Friday he was arrested for possession of a controlled substance and forgery. He had been arrested for forgery in May and police at that time found fake $100, $20 and $10 bills.
