A 25-year-old man from Orange is in a Beaumont hospital with stab wounds and a 25-year-old woman is the Orange County Jail on a charge of family violence-aggravated assault. Orange Police Captain Charles Stephenson said the stabbing happened on Cove Drive. Police were called at 12:46 Wednesday morning to a house in the 1000 block of Ruby Lane. After emergency personnel arrived, they found the man sitting in the passenger seat of a car bleeding. Orange County’s Town Hall meeting appeared to be a success Tuesday night.  Citizens filled the Commissioners Courtroom for an opportunity to question, vent, or just talk to the elected leaders of county government.  Over a dozen citizens commented to the Commissioners Court during the two-hour Town Hall gathering. Voters in the Deweyville area will have to write-in someone for the Newton County Precinct 4 race. The Newton County Clerk's Office reports three candidates have filed as write-in for the spot. They are William Hamilton, Keina McDaniel and Wesley 'Gene' Thompson. Early voting started Monday for the November 8 general election. A Beaumont teenager has been sentenced to five years of probation and will pay a total restitution of $25,815 after pleading guilty to shooting two whooping cranes in January. 19-year-old Trey Joseph Frederick pleaded guilty to the federal wildlife violations in May.
