Man Escapes Handcuffs

Orange police said a 21-year-old man arrested on a probation violation warrant got a hand out of a handcuff and ran away Saturday afternoon. Jecovin Provost has an Orange address and was arrested on two warrants from Jefferson County. Detective Captain Robert Enmon said he was found hiding in an apartment at the Park Avenue Manor in the 2500 block of Park Avenue. Captain Enmon said officers found a handgun reported stolen from Orange County inside the apartment, but Provost did not have the gun when he was arrested. Orange Police Reports

A person living in the Ridgemont subdivision shot and killed two dogs Sunday morning. The two dogs running at large had killed a smaller dog, according to Detective Captain Robert Enmon. Police were called at 8:48 a.m. Sunday to the 3600 block of Hemlock Lane. Captain Enmon said the two large dogs, reported as a pit bull and a boxer, attacked a killed a small dog. A neighbor came outside and tried to prevent the large dogs from attacking another small dog. Captain Enmon said no police action was taken. Horace Lloyd Craig, 81, of Orange, passed away on December 19, 2016, in Orange.  A memorial service will be held 10:00 AM. Mary Lou (Pachar) Gunn, 88, of Orange, passed away on December 19, 2016. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Thursday, December 22, 2016, at Claybar Funeral Home in Orange. Officiating will be Pastor John Bickham. Burial will follow at Hillcrest Memorial Gardens in Orange. Daryl Broussard        

  On December 17, 2016, Daryl Broussard passed away after a yearlong battle with cancer.   Daryl was born on October 20, 1964, to parents Whitney and Emma Broussard. He was a native of Orange County, Texas where he served his community as the Justice of Peace Precinct 3 county court clerk. Daryl enjoyed collecting vinyl records and had a love for music and literature. He was very supportive, and often mentored children with cancer. City Begins Skate Park Project

Rainy weather has delayed pouring the concrete for Orange's new skate park, but the project is still on track at Sunset Park on 16th Street. The Orange City Council Tuesday approved buying $85,411 worth of equipment. The features will include quarter pipes, bank ramps, grind ramps and other equipment skaters know. The 14 features are being bought through a public buy board with competitive bidding prices from Sk8Parks International and Power Play LT.
