Donald Wayne Cole, 63, of Orange, passed away on January 3, 2017. Funeral services will be 10:00 a.m., Saturday, January 7, 2017, at St. Henry Catholic Church in Bridge City. Officiating will be Reverend Steven Leger. Burial will follow at Hillcrest Memorial Gardens in Orange. Hershel Stagner, Jr. was sworn in Wednesday as the new Justice of the Peace in Precinct One. Skimmer Found in Pinehurst
Complaints about debit card fraud have dropped, even though Pinehurst police found a gas pump skimmer two weeks ago. Pinehurst Chief Fred Hanauer said a complaint about credit card fraud on December 22 led Lieutenant Keith Reneau to check a convenience store. The lieutenant found a skimmer installed on a gas pump at the Valero store at 1427 Strickland Drive in Pinehurst. Thieves have been installing electronic skimmers on outside gas pumps at convenience store throughout Orange County. The devices are able to read card numbers and personal identification numbers. Armstrong Performs At Citrus Bowl
Teigin Armstrong, a seventh grade at Little Cypress Junior High's represented Orange at the Buffalo Wild Wings Citrus Bowl on New Year's Eve in Orlando, FL. She is a Lieutenant in the Golden Dazzler drill team under the direction of Simone Dameron. Armstrong won several awards at junior high dance camp in Galveston including Jet All American Honors which qualified her for the opportunity to participate in the halftime show that featured country music's Cole Swindell. County To Pay Family $3.1 Million
Orange County will pay over three million dollars to the family of Robert Montano to cover the wrongful death of Montano in the Orange County Jail in 2011. The Commissioners Court voted unanimously Tuesday upon the recommendation of Assistant County Attorney Doug Manning to pay the Montano family $3,175,674.79 on or before February 15 of this year.
