On September 21, 2025, at approximately 5:11PM, OCESD#1 was called for a residential structure fire in the 1500 block of Cheyenne. Upon arrival, a single wide manufactured home was observed with heavy smoke and fire conditions. Fire crews quickly extinguished the flames and during the primary search, a female was found and removed from the home and resuscitation efforts began. Unfortunately the victim passed away despite the efforts. She was identified as 50 year old Windy Norris.
The fire is under investigation. OCESD#4 also provided assistance.
OCESD#1 would like to remind all citizens and visitors that once you are able to escape from a structure fire, please stay outside and do not re-enter the structure. Also make sure that you have working smoke detectors in your homes. Early warning in fire incidents will provide the best chance of getting out of a burning structure.
