According to South Newton County ESD 1 Chief Mark McCall, firefighters responded to a reported structure fire at a home on Private Road 8130 in Deweyville just before 2 o’clock Thursday afternoon.
When firefighters arrived, they found the structure fully engulfed in flames, with heavy fire and smoke coming from the building.
No injuries were reported. No one was home at the time of the fire.
Mutual aid was requested from Orange County ESDs 3 and 4 to assist firefighters.
The home collapsed to the ground while firefighters battled the blaze. Chief McCall says the cause of the fire is currently unknown and remains under investigation.
