
Larry Wayne Wyche passed away on April 10, 2026, at his home in Vidor, Texas surrounded by his loving family.
Larry was born on December 14, 1945, in Kenedy, Texas. He was raised in Houston, Texas, where he grew into the man who would become a steadfast presence in the lives of all who knew him.
At the young age of 19, Larry married the love of his life, Julia Cooley. Together, they built a life rooted in commitment, faith, and family. He was a devoted husband and a loving father, always placing his family at the center of his world.
Larry proudly served his country in the United States Army during the Vietnam conflict, where he was trained as a medic and stationed at Fort Carson, Colorado. His time in the service reflected his compassion and willingness to care for others in times of need. Following his military service, Larry dedicated many years of hard work to Southwestern Bell, later AT&T, until his retirement. His strong work ethic and reliability left a lasting impression on colleagues and friends alike.
A man of faith, Larry attended Eastgate Pentecostal Church of Vidor, Texas, where he found community and spiritual strength.
The family extends their heartfelt gratitude to all who have provided meals, kind words, prayers, and love during this difficult time. Your compassion and support have been a great comfort and will always be remembered.
He is survived by his wife, Julia “Judy” Cooley Wyche; his daughter, Sonja Higdon and husband Jack; daughter, Jennifer Freeman and husband Timothy Freeman; daughter, Deedra Hankins; grandchildren, Grant Westmoreland, Lauren Bruney, Wilson Higdon, Ella Hankins, Sarah Higdon, Savannah Freeman, Brittany Knight, Logan Freeman, Hunter Freeman, and Preston Freeman; and great grandson, Hollis Bruney.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Bertha Wyche; brother, James Wyche; and nephew, Ronald Wyche.
Family will receive friends from 9:00 a.m. until the time of the funeral service at 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, April 15, 2026, at Eastgate United Pentecostal Church, 18905 Interstate 10 Frontage Road, Vidor, Texas. Pastor Matthew Tuttle and Pastor Charles Johnson will be officiating. Interment to follow at Magnolia Cemetery, Ragley, Louisiana.
Honoring Larry as pallbearers are Kevin Morgan, Tommy Rapsilver, Gary Rapsilver, Grant Westmoreland, Jimmy Pitman, Tim Freeman, and Chad Christopherson.
