Steve Byerly, 77, of Orange, passed away on April 9, 2020, at home.
Born in Beaumont, Texas on September 12, 1942, he was the son of Jessie Valentine Byerly and Ladema Grace (Mayer) Byerly. Steve proudly served his country in the United States Army for 3 years and in the reserves for an additional 3 years. He went on to become a machinist and worked for Dupont for 37 years and was on the forefront of computerized lathes. Steve loved to work with his hands and was an excellent furniture builder. He enjoyed listening to music and was an avid ham radio operator, his call sign was W5SM. If you needed a card for a special occasion Steve always picked the best ones! Steve loved his family dearly and will be missed by all who knew and loved him.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Jessie and Ladema Byerly; sisters, Thelma Smith, Alice Baker, and Dorothy Rouselle; and brothers, J.V. Byerly, Ernest Byerly, and Bill Byerly.
He is survived by his son, Nathan Byerly and wife Angie; grandchildren, GinnyAnn Henry and husband Baylor and Garrison Byerly all of Orange.
