
The Celebration of Life for Mr. George W. Levias, 93, of Orange, will be Saturday, September 5th, 2026, at 11am, at the Greater Old Field Church of God in Christ, in Bon Wier, TX, under the direction of Sparrow Funeral Home. Rites of Christian Burial will follow at Biloxi Evergreen Cemetery in Bon Wier.
Visitation will be from 10 until 11am.
George Washington Levias, 93, of Orange, died Sunday, August 23rd, 2026, at Focus Care Nursing Home in Orange. He was born Sunday, June 4th, 1933, in Bon Wier, Texas to Amanda (Brown) Levias and Texas Levias.
Growing into manhood, he served his country through the United States Army and was Discharged With Honors.
Residing in Orange some 70 years, he retired from the Firestone Plant as an Operator, with 35 years of service. He was in the initial first group of 9 African Americans hired by the plant.
Cherishing his memory are his wife, Martha Louise (Blanchard) Levias of Orange, four sons, Jimmy Levias of Bon Wier, Clifford Levias of Rochester, NY, Winston Levias (Anita) of Beaumont, TX, and Roland Levias (Marcia) of Austin, TX, two daughters, Georgiana Marsh (Robert) of Orange, and Selena Levias of Houston, TX, 11 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by one son, George Levias, Jr., his parents, two brothers, W. G. Levias and Mavis Brown, and three sisters, Ella Gates, Victoria Bias, and Odessa Jones-Levias.
