Freda Lou Kelley, 73, of Orange, Texas, passed away on December 25, 2017, at her home surrounded by loved ones.
Funeral services will be held at 6:00 p.m., Wednesday, December 27, 2017, at Claybar Funeral Home in Bridge City, Texas. Officiating will be Reverend Jeff Bell. Cremation will follow under the direction of Claybar Funeral Home.
Visitation will be prior to the service beginning at 5:00 p.m.
Born in Brookville, Indiana, on May 27, 1944, she was the daughter of Elmer Reese and Ella King Reese. She was very dedicated to her family, and known as “Mom” or “Mommaw” to everyone she met. She enjoyed sewing, word puzzles, and her poker games. She also loved baking and cooking, especially for the holidays and family get-togethers or when Sam, Tracy, Sheila, and Larris needed something for a work or school function. Freda loved gardening and could put a stick in the ground and make it grow into a beautiful tree. She also loved music and Elvis was her all-time favorite. Freda will be greatly missed by those who knew and loved her.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Elmer and Ella Reese; 3 sisters; 2 brothers; and her best friend and sister-in-law of 60 years, Nancy Reese.
She is survived by her loving husband of 57 years, James Kelley; children, Peggy Sue Coffman, of GA, James Kelley, Jr. and wife Susan, of Robinson, Sheila and J.R. McEnerney, of Jasper, Kimberly Philips and husband Mark, of Conroe, William Kelley, Sr. and wife Vickie, of Ellijay, GA, Curtis Kelley and wife Charity, of Ellijay, GA, and Samantha Jorgensen and husband Jody, of Port Neches; 15 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; 5 brothers; 1 sister; and numerous nieces, nephews, and friends that she considered family.
Honorary pallbearers are George McEnerney, Jr., Jody Jorgensen, Trey Bradley, Phillip Fontenot, Cory Jorgensen, and Raymond Hunt Coffman.
