Flock cameras and data centers are two hot topics in our country. We currently don’t have any data centers coming to Orange County but Flock cameras are popping up around the area.
A Flock camera is a license plate reader that uses a motion-activated camera to track license plates and identify unique vehicle features to generate investigative leads for authorities in criminal cases. Some people have voiced their opposition, claiming privacy violations, mass surveillance, and potential misuse of vehicle tracking data.
So where are they?
With the help of Deflock technology, the city of Orange shows seven located north of the interstate.
There are approximately 20 in the city south of the interstate including a cluster of four around the entrances of Home Depot.
Vidor (below) is showing eight cameras throughout town. There is also one camera in the Cove area. Orange County Sheriff’s Dept. as well as the city of Pinehurst are discussing adding cameras. Currently Bridge City is not showing any cameras inside the city limits and they say nothing is on the table at this time.
