
Orange County has contested Republican primary races after two days of filing.
Four people have filed to run for Precinct 2 County Commissioner. Incumbent Theresa Beauchamp is not running for re-election to the seat.
The candidates so far are Shawn Hare, Matt Chandler, Jude Graffagnino and Chris Sowell.
Also, Candice Conroy Steele is running for Precinct 3 Justice of the Peace against incumbent Joy Dubose Simonton, who also filed.
Other incumbents who have filed are County Judge John Gothia, Precinct 4 Commissioner Robert Viator, 260th State District Judge Steve Parkhurst, County Clerk Brandy Robertson, County Treasurer Christy Khoury, and Precinct 2 Justice of the Peace Chad Jenkins.
Anne Gerity Reed has filed to run for District Clerk. Incumbent Vickie Edgerly has not filed as of this post. Other incumbents with positions up for election this year who have not filed are Precinct 1 JP Hershel Stagner Jr. and Precinct 4 JP Rodney Price.
The Republican and Democratic primary elections will be March 1. The deadline for filing is December 13. In the past 10 years, Orange County went from all Democrat to all Republican. The Democratic Party has not had contested local primary races in the decade.
