On Friday, April 17, 2026, at approximately 2:20 a.m., officers with the City of Orange Police Department were dispatched to the 1500 block of Simmons Drive in reference to a major traffic accident involving two vehicles and a power pole. Power was out in the area most of the morning.
Upon arrival, officers began their investigation and provided medical aid to the individuals involved. Emergency medical personnel arrived shortly after and continued treatment. Both drivers were transported to CHRISTUS St. Elizabeth Hospital in Beaumont for further care.
One of the drivers, identified as 26-year-old Miranda McGaughey of Vidor, later succumbed to her injuries a few days after the crash.
