An Orange man has been indicted on a third degree felony charge of using a vehicle to evade arrest.
On August 26 Beaumont Police were called to Babe Zaharias Park for a report of a male doing donuts in a Dodge pickup in front of Babe Zaharias Park near IH-10 and possibly had children inside.
An officer arrived and observed the pickup, driven by Jimy Mejia, 33, who lives on Center St. in Orange. The officer said while driving erratically he almost struck a concrete wall. The officer activated their emergency lights and Mejia started running from police, making the U-turn under the Interstate and begin to travel eastbound. He eventually pulled over and the officer had to draw down on Mejia because he would not show both hands when instructed. He was taken into custody as other officers came to the scene to assist. He was also charged with Driving While Intoxicated.
