
Mary Lou “LuLu” Weber Thomas, age 97, passed away on Sunday, August 16, 2026, at Buckner Calder Woods in Beaumont.
A celebration of the life of Mary Lou will be held Saturday, August 22, at Grammier-Oberle Funeral Home in Port Arthur. Visitation will be at 10:00 followed at 10:30 by a Catholic funeral service officiated by Rev. D. Stephen McCrate. Interment will follow at Calvary Cemetery in Port Arthur.
Mary Lou was born in Morgan City, Louisiana to Wilson Weber and Ella Polaski Weber. The family moved to Port Arthur where Mary Lou attended school and graduated from Thomas Jefferson High School in 1947 with many of her lifelong friends. She married Joseph H. Thomas and remained in Port Arthur where they raised their four children. After Joe’s retirement, they moved to Bridge City.
When grandkids came into Mary Lou’s life, they claimed Papa Joe’s pet name for her, LuLu, and she was delighted to be LuLu to everyone. She set the example of the fun-loving grandparents who made each of them believe they were her favorite.
She will be missed by all who love her.
Mary Lou was preceded in death by her husband, Joe; son, Kirk Thomas; son-in-law Steven James; and great granddaughter, Campbell Lou Potts. She was also preceded in death by her parents and her brothers James Weber and his wife, Glora, and W. J. “Boug” Weber and his wife, JoAnn.
Mary Lou is survived by daughter Sherry Featherston and husband Tom; their daughter Amy Potts, husband Mark and son Rees; and their daughter Carrie Featherston, children, Camryn Stratton and Thomas Stratton, and his son Scottie,
She is also survived by daughter Lynn Latiolais and husband Tim; their son Toby, wife Rene’ and daughters Ella and Macy; their son Trey, wife Niki and children, Logan and Tate; their son Troy, wife Jennifer and daughters, Emma, Nora and Audrey; and their son Todd, wife Claire and children, Theo and Tess. Mary Lou is also survived by daughter Terri “Petey” James and her daughter Lauren James, husband Mason Kinto and children, Mia and Max, and her daughter Emily James.
She is also survived by her brother Pat Weber and his wife Faye, as well as many nieces and nephews, and their children and grandchildren.
The family would like to express their sincere appreciation for the love and kindness shown to her at Calder Woods. She felt so lucky to have such special caregivers. They shared many happy moments with ” Miss LuLu” and knew the importance of her earrings and lipstick.
Pallbearers will be Toby Latiolais, Trey Latiolais, Troy Latiolais, Todd Latiolais, Thomas Stratton, Mark Potts, Mason Kinto and godson, Tod Weber. Honorary pallbearers will be Rees Potts and Tate Latiolais.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions would be appreciated to the Texas School for the Blind and Visually Impaired in Austin, St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Port Arthur or a charity close to your heart.
