Jasper County investigators have arrested a Call, Texas, man on a felony evidence tampering charge as part of the ongoing investigation into the disappearance of Joshua Larkin.
At approximately 11:30 a.m. Wednesday, July 15, 2026, Jasper County Investigators Calvin Starkie and David Lampman, working alongside Sheriff Colton Havard, served an arrest warrant on Hank James Jones, 34, of Call. Jones was located hiding in the attic of a residence in the 300 block of East Harris Street in Kirbyville and was taken into custody without incident.
Jones is charged with Tampering with/Fabricating Physical Evidence, a third-degree felony. The charge is connected to the Joshua Larkin investigation. He was transported to the Jasper County Jail, where he was booked on the charge.
Jones is presumed innocent unless proven guilty in a court of law.
In a statement, Havard praised the dedication of the investigators involved in the case.
“Sheriff Chuck Havard and I want to commend the investigators from each of our agencies for their relentless work on this case,” the statement said. “They have spent countless hours following leads and pursuing every available avenue. We are doing everything we can to bring Joshua Larkin home to his family so they can finally receive the closure they deserve.”
Joshua Larkin has been missing since Nov. 17, 2022. Authorities say four suspects are now in custody in connection with the investigation.

“Our commitment to this investigation has never wavered,” the statement continued. “We will continue working tirelessly until every possible lead has been exhausted. We also want to thank the Newton County District Attorney Courtney Ponthier and her staff for their dedication and diligence in their role of this case.”
