During his school years, he excelled in athletics, playing both football and baseball. Following high school, James dedicated 36 years of service to Exxon Mobil before retiring as Wharf Master. He was known for his strong work ethic, integrity, and commitment to providing for his family.
James embraced life with enthusiasm and enjoyed most of all spending time with family and friends, especially his “brothers” David and Randy. He also enjoyed spending time on the golf course, visiting the lake, mowing his yard, and reading. He was a devoted sports fan who passionately supported Texas A&M University, the New York Yankees, and the Dallas Cowboys. He also dearly loved his faithful dog, Aggie.
Above all else, James cherished his family, he was a loving and devoted father and husband. One of his greatest joys was spending time with his grandchildren, all of whom lovingly knew him as “Papa Bill.” He treasured every moment with them and took great pride in their lives and accomplishments.
James is survived by his beloved wife of 37 years, Nona “Ray” Peveto of Beaumont, Texas; his children, Cheree Barnette and husband David, Monique McCorvey and husband Tony, Jared Peveto and wife Sarah, and stepson Gil Nunez and wife Joan.
