Bridge City ISD Ranked 18th Among Top 4A Programs in the State
The University Interscholastic League (UIL) released its first updated standings on Friday, January 23, for this year’s race for the Conference 4A Lone Star Cup, recognizing overall excellence in academics, athletics, and fine arts.
Bridge City High School currently sits in 18th place out of 185 ranked Class 4A schools statewide, placing the Cardinals in the top 10 percent of 4A programs in Texas and reinforcing Bridge City ISD’s commitment to being Best in Class.
The Lone Star Cup is awarded annually to schools based on points earned through postseason success across multiple UIL activities, highlighting well-rounded achievement throughout the school year.
“This ranking reflects the hard work of our students, coaches, directors, and sponsors across all programs,” said Dr. Mike Kelly, BCISD Superintendent. “The Lone Star Cup tells the story of what our students can accomplish when the culture is strong, the expectations are high, and every role matters. We are proud of the commitment to excellence shown every day at Bridge City High School as we continue striving to be Best in Class.”
Bridge City ISD has earned Lone Star Cup points this year through strong performances in team tennis (3), marching band (4), volleyball (6), football (8), and spirit (1), reflecting the district’s broad-based success across athletics and fine arts.
In 2025, Bridge City ISD finished 25th in Lone Star Cup points out of 218 total UIL Class 4A schools statewide. While approximately 218 schools are classified as 4A, the current Lone Star Cup standings list 185 schools that have earned points so far this year. With several UIL events still remaining this school year, Bridge City has the opportunity to continue climbing the standings as the Lone Star Cup race progresses.
