William F. Moore, 72, of Orange, Texas, passed away at his home, surrounded by his loving family, on Saturday, December 31, 2016. Cremation arrangements are under the direction of Dorman Funeral Home.
William was born on Tuesday, September 5, 1944, in Bessie Mae, Texas, to the late Iris Pauline (Coleson) and John Henry Moore. He was a lifelong resident of Orange, Texas, where he lived with his wife of 50 years, Avie J. Moore. William was a hardworking man who spent 40 years working as a welder, with American Bridge and Orange Ship Building. When he wasn’t working, William loved to fish, hunt rabbit, and frogging. He also enjoyed spending time on the river and going camping. July 4th and New Years were always special; William loved fireworks, especially artillery shells. William loved his family and enjoyed the times he was able to see his grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. He was a husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and friend, who will be missed by all who knew him.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Iris and John Moore; and his 5 brothers.
William is survived by his loving wife, Avie J. Moore; daughters, Sharon Moore, Michele Butcher, and Bridget Gordon; half-sister, Marilyn Neece; 7 grandchildren; 9 great-grandchildren with one on the way; and many members of his extended family, who loved him dearly.
