Entergy Texas crews have restored power to more than 50% of customers impacted by Edouard — surpassing the committed milestone for Wednesday — while continuing to navigate extremely challenging conditions across the hardest hit areas in Southeast Texas.
As of 6:00 p.m. Wednesday, approximately 39,000 customers (4602 in Orange County) are without power, down from a peak of approximately 80,000 customers.
Some customers in the most heavily damaged or difficult-to-access locations may experience longer restoration times. Detailed estimated restoration times will be shared as assessments progress and crews gain safe access to impacted areas.
Restoration work has continued throughout the day amid heavy rain, thunderstorms and widespread flooding. More than 2,000 workers, including lineworkers, vegetation crews, damage assessors and support personnel, are engaged in the restoration effort.
According to National Weather Service estimates, rainfall totals exceeded 10 inches across much of Tyler and Hardin counties, with localized estimates approaching 20 inches in portions of northern Hardin County. Flooded and blocked roads, fallen trees and debris have made it difficult for crews to reach damaged equipment and safely position bucket trucks and other machinery in impacted areas.

Even when crews cannot immediately reach damaged equipment, teams continue coordinating repairs, clearing vegetation, assessing damage and identifying alternate ways to restore customers. Specialized equipment, including high-water vehicles, rear-alley machines, helicopters and drones, is also aiding crews to assess damage and access difficult locations.
The restoration process is done in an orderly, deliberate manner. We start with essential services and move on to large neighborhoods and then to individual homes. Restoration times in the hardest hit areas depend on the extent of damage to Entergy’s electrical infrastructure. Customers whose neighborhoods have been restored but remain without power may have damage to electrical equipment attached to their home or business. A licensed electrician must repair damaged equipment before Entergy can safely restore service.
Outage totals may fluctuate as crews isolate damaged portions of the system to safely complete repairs. This does not mean restoration work has stopped.
