Thomas “Tommy”, “Pop” Leo May, 78, went to be with his Lord and Savior on July 22, 2026. He was born on June 2, 1948, in Hillsboro, Texas.
Tommy dedicated 37 years of service to the Beaumont Fire Department, with 17 years as Public Information Officer, retiring as Captain of Station #3 in 2006. He faithfully served his community with courage and compassion. Tommy also had a deep love for music and especially loved singing with the May family, creating cherished memories through song. Tommy was a devoted member of Pine Forest Baptist Church, where he found great joy playing in the church orchestra. Tommy would want his church family to know how much they meant to him and that he considered them family and loved them.
Tommy has been married to the love of his life, Rebecca “Becky,” for 49 years. Together, they built a life centered on faith, love, and family, raising two children, Aaron and Danielle, who meant the world to him. Tommy was known for his kind and encouraging spirit, his unwavering love for Christ, and his willingness to lend a helping hand to anyone in need. His warmth and generosity left a lasting impression on all who knew him. Tommy loved people. He had many hobbies, including fishing, but once he had grandchildren, they became his greatest focus and favorite pastime.
Tommy is survived by his beloved wife, Rebecca; his children, Aaron (wife Gina) and Danielle (husband Dustin); his cherished grandchildren, Birdzhan, Abil, Joshua, Abigail, Caleb, and Caden; and his siblings, Billie, Betty, and Jerry.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Leo and Clairene May, and his brother, Joe Bob.
Visitation will be held on Sunday, July 26, 2026, at Memorial Funeral Home from 6:00 PM – 8:00 PM. The service will be held at Pine Forest Baptist Church on Monday, July 27, 2026, at 10:00 AM with interment to follow at Restlawn Memorial Park in Vidor.
The family would like to extend a special thankyou to the Beaumont Fire Department and all friends, family, and church family for all their kind words and help during this time.
