Friday, fifth-grade students in Orangefield continued their annual tradition of learning about the legacy of Welles Remy Crowther.
Known as “The Man in the Red Bandana”, Welles led at least 10 documented survivors to safety during the 9/11 attacks on the World Trade Centers. Although Welles did not survive, his family says they honor his decision to continue to climb back up the towers to help save others.
After watching the documentary, the fifth-grade Bobcats all received red bandanas in remembrance of the attacks that day and in honor of Welles.
