The Orange County Texas Exes have awarded three scholarships to local 2019 high school graduates attending UT Austin this fall.
Bridge City High School Valedictorian Brandon Curl is the recipient of the June and Jesse B. Gunstream Endowed Scholarship for Academic Excellence. During his time in high school, he participated in UIL academics as a four-year state competitor, the Youth Leadership Team of Southeast Texas, and the Students for Space Congressional Advisory Council. Brandon served as the drum major of the band for the past two years as well as the captain of both the math UIL team and the academic team. Brandon is a National Merit Commended Scholar and won first place in the Stark Reading Contest. He plans to major in physics with a pre-medical concentration.
Mallory Chilton ranked fourth in her class at Vidor High School and is the recipient of the Judge Pat Clark Endowed Scholarship. She served as Honor Society president, captain of the varsity soccer team and a medalist in track and field. Mallory was also a winner of the Stark Reading Contest and a member of the TMEA All-State Choir. She plans to major in Biology in the College of Natural Sciences.
The recipient of the Wynne Hunt Memorial Scholarship is Jessica McKinney, a 2015 graduate of Bridge City High School. After graduating as Valedictorian of her class, Jessica enlisted in the U.S. Navy and will now begin college this fall in the school of Geological Sciences at UT.
