
Tavis Ray Day, 70, of Vidor, passed away on Tuesday, March 31, 2026, at his home surrounded by his loving family. A lifelong resident of Vidor, Tavis was known for his love of sports and the joy he found in sharing that passion with others.
From a young age, Tavis was active in athletics, playing baseball during his school years and maintaining an active lifestyle throughout much of his life. He was a true sports enthusiast who enjoyed watching all types of sports, but he especially loved cheering on his favorite team, the Houston Astros. In his adult years, he became an avid golfer, spending many happy hours on the course.
Above all, Tavis cherished his family. He was very close to them, and they were his greatest joy in life—especially his nieces and nephews, whom he loved dearly. His presence, laughter, and genuine care for those around him will be deeply missed.
He is survived by his brothers, Willie Day and wife Danette of Beaumont, Texas, and Byron Day and wife Renee’ of Vidor, Texas; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews, all of whom he loved very much.
Tavis was preceded in death by his parents, Willie and Verda Day; his sister, Pam Day; his brother, Tommy Day; and his half-sisters, Kathy, Patty, and Linda.
His memory will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved him.
