A popular restaurant in Pinehurst caught fire in the early morning hours of July 29. Fire crews from just about every agency, including Bridge City’s ladder truck responded to Robert’s Meat Market on Park Avenue just before 3am Thursday.
Preliminary reports are that the fire started in the back of the building near the office, kitchen and storage room. Heavy fire could be seen from as far away as Interstate 10. The restaurant, banquet hall and meat market all suffered serious smoke, water and fire damage.
Firefighters were still at the scene at the time of this post at 5am. Owned by Robert Ramirez, Robert’s Meat Market started on Simmons Drive in the 80’s before opening the Park St. location in the 1990’s. Besides everyday patrons the restaurant hosts weekly lunches for area civic organizations.
