
Robbie Self McCabe was born February 7, 1941, and passed away April 2, at the age of 85.
For 42 years, she devoted her professional life to Firestone Polymer, where her strong work ethic, reliability and warm spirit earned her the respect and admiration of colleagues and friends alike. She took great pride in her work and the relationships she built over more than four decades.
In her younger years, she was a standout student and athlete. She played high school basketball, demonstrating both determination and teamwork and was honored as the most beautiful in her class, a reflection not only of her outward appearance but of the genuine kindness that radiated from within. She graduated as valedictorian of the Class of 1959, a testament to her intelligence, discipline and commitment to excellence.
Those who knew her will remember her as a truly sweet soul who loved everyone she met. Her compassion, generosity and gentle nature made a lasting impact on countless lives. She had a way of making people feel seen, valued and cared for.
Together with her husband, she was actively involved in volunteer Christian Builders, dedicating her time and energy to helping others and strengthening communities through faith and service. Their shared commitment to giving back was a cornerstone of her life and a reflection of her deeply held beliefs.
She is survived by her son, Craig McCabe and wife Christiana; grandsons, Cade McCabe and Marco Abuan; siblings, Jeanne Mizell and husband Robert and Robert Louie Self Jr. and wife Rita; niece, Tonya Murphy and nephews, Tim Mizell, Terrell Mizell, Chad Self and Paul Self, Jr.
She is preceded by her husband of 50 years, Horton McCabe; parents, Robert and Nettie Self; siblings, Judy Richter and Paul Self, Sr.; niece, Stacey Green and nephew, Kyle Self.
Celebration of life will be held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, April 11, at Old First Orange Baptist Church, in Orange. Cremation was entrusted to Dorman – Riley Smith & Sons Funeral Home.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to Old First Orange Baptist Church, 7925 Interstate 10 East, Orange, Texas.
