Bears Look For Win At Splendora
District play started last Friday, and the Little Cypress-Mauriceville Bears played the Silsbee Tigers who may be the district favorite now. The Bears lost, but are still showing improvement. Coach Randy Crouch analyzes this week’s opponent the Splendora Wildcats. Crouch believes the Wildcats are much improved from last season. Splendora runs a multiple offense. The WOSMS Stallions hosted the Newton Eagles Tuesday night and secured two more wins. The 7th grade team blanked the Eagles by a score of 28-0. The Offense had contributions from several players including touchdowns from Andre Thomas, Jerren Terrell, Jasachin Harris and Darryl Bowens. Kaiden Berry and Terrell each added a 2 point conversion. 7th grade secured their first shutout of the season with strong performances from Jacob Dominguez and Jerrold Brown. Home Invader Arrested
Orange police arrested a 34-year-old man for armed robbery and are looking for another one in connection with a home invasion Sunday morning. The robbery happened about 7 a.m. at a complex of 10 small houses at the end of Gunstream Lane, which is off of Tulane Road. The victims, a man and a woman, told Officer B.P. Latiolais that they were asleep when two men came inside. One held a gun on them while the other went through the house gathering items like cell phones, cash, a computer, stereo and a sword. EDC contract approved
Commissioners approved a contract Monday that will extend the services of the executive director and his staff of the Orange County Economic Development Corporation through December 31. Back on July 27 the Commissioners Court voted to cut funding to the Economic Development Corporation at the end of the current fiscal year which ends September 30. Assistant County Attorney Doug Manning interpreted the Court’s action as not effecting the employment agreement between the county and Bobby Fillyaw the executive director of the EDC.
