Bouncing back from a tough loss at Jasper the Bridge City Cardinals won a decisive victory over the LC-M Bears last week. Lost in the win was Riley Harris the Cardinals’ strong safety to a knee injury. This week is another tough battle for Bridge City against the Huffman Hargrave Falcons. Last week the Orangefield Bobcats got one starter back from injury, but lost another one in the game with West Orange-Stark. Cale Puckett was back from his ankle sprain, but Chase Furlough is out with a broken wrist. He will be replaced by Zach Dischler on the Bobcats’ defense. Lark St. Sewer Construction Underway
Residents on Lark Street in Pinehurst will be seeing construction of new sewer lines in their neighborhood. Pinehurst City Administrator Robbie Hood said the contractors have been delivering equipment and pipes to Lark Street, and are expected to start construction Thursday, October 22. Hood indicated the contractors have 60 days to complete the pipe bursting and laying of new sewer lines. Once completed the residents on Lark will have improved sewer services and a repaved street. The Mustangs won the battle of FM 105 defeating the Orangefield Bobcats last week. Now West Orange-Stark must go on the road to face the Hamshire-Fannett Longhorns. Coach Cornel Thompson emphatically states the Longhorn the Mustangs must lasso is Kendrick King. Building Permits
Kroger on 16th Street is undergoing a $316,000 interior remodeling and was the biggest new project in Orange during September, according to city building permits. Overall, the number of permits for building and remodeling was low. One permit was issued for a new residence. The $90,000 house is being built by James Turner Construction in the 600 block of Moreell Street in Navy Park. Permits also included one for the demolition of the old house on the lot. Man Assaulted At Courthouse
A 39-year-old man was pushed down on the outdoors stairs at the Orange County Courthouse Tuesday morning. Orange police arrested a 52-year-old man for Class A misdemeanor assault in connection with the attack. Officer Logan Holland reported the two had been involved in an eviction hearing. The head of courthouse security called police. Michael Allen Parrish was taken to the county jail for the assault. If found guilty, he faces a punishment of up to a year in the county jail and a maximum $4,000 fine.
