House Fire in Orangefield
Just after 8pm Thursday, firefighters from Bridge City Fire and Rescue were called to 3706 Windy Ln. in Orangefield for a house fire. Firefighters arrived to find the garage on the two story structure engulfed in flames. The family inside said they heard a pop and once they saw fire they were all able to get out safely and call 911. The fire is under investigation but it's believed to have started near an electrical box. Firefighters, assisted by WOFD and OCESD4, were able to keep the fire from a total loss. Burning Under Caution
Lower humidity and high winds fueled at least three fires Thursday and firefighters are asking the public to pay more attention. Volunteer firefighters from around Orange County and Deweyville had to be called to at least three fires Thursday where outdoor burning got out of hand. The last one on Tree Line Drive Thursday afternoon was close to three structures. With the conditions, it could start up again so the Texas Forestry Service was on the way to make a firebreak. Arena Open For Business
Thursday the Cowboy Church of Orange County had their official ribbon cutting celebrating their new covered rodeo arena. A large amount of the congregation along with members of the Greater Orange and Bridge City Chambers of Commerce were on hand for the momentous occasion. Pastor Harland Strother said, “For 15 years the church has talked about covering the arena. We got a committee together, came up with a plan, and trusted God to lead the way.
