The Celebration of Life for Mr. George Finney, Jr., 74, an Orange native, will be Saturday, September 28, 2024 at 1 pm during Memorial Services at Full Gospel Holy Temple, under the direction of Sparrow Funeral Home.
Disposition is Cremation.
George Finney Jr. passed away on September 23, 2024, at the age of 74, in Beaumont, Texas.
Born on June 13, 1950, George dedicated a significant part of his life to serving his country and others. He was a proud Marine, embodying the values of honor and courage throughout his life.
For over a decade, George worked at Dallas Lighthouse for the Blind, where he was deeply committed to supporting the visual impaired. His work there was more than a job, it was a manifestation of his kindness and his desire to make a difference in the world.
A man of faith, George was a former member of Full Gospel Holy Temple, where he found spiritual solace.
His hobbies included fishing, a pastime through which he not only enjoyed nature but also cherished moments of peace and reflection. George was a loving and kind person, always ready with a smile and a helping hand.
He is survived by his wife, Bonnie Finney, and a large family who adored him. His siblings, Gorgia Hawthorne (Jerry), James L. Finney , Lynn Nix, Jerald Dwight Finney, and ElDoris Finney; his nieces and nephews: Latoya Guity, Francisea Beasley, Terranesia Guity, Tammy Skinner, Rosiland Malone, Nannette Hawthorne, Donnie Bigelow, Jacoy Finney, Jeraldco Finney, James Finney Jr., Jerry Hawthorne, Jr. and several other nieces and nephews including two that he often called “his children, because he helped raise them”, Samuel and Keona King. Also left to cherish is memory is his sisters-in-law, Erma Lowe, his “favorite” sis-in-law, Ruby Thibodeaux, Claudia Finney and Mary King, brother-in-law Kenneth Thomas (Betty) and several others that will miss him dearly. George was proceeded in death by his parents, George Finney, Sr. and Ester L. Finney and beloved family members, sister in-law Michelle Finney, brothers-in-law Freddie Thibodeaux and Henry Lowe.
