Harry “Ted” Shensky, 86, of Orange, Texas, passed away on February 16, 2016, at his home. A memorial service will be held at 2:00pm, Monday, February 22, 2016, at Claybar Funeral Home in Bridge City. The Orangefield Bobcats hosted the Bobcat Invitational on Thursday night and came away with many awards. The girls team came walked away with the 1st place team trophy and the following lifters finished with Gold Medals: Krista Wheeler (580lbs), Skylar Hamons (740lbs.), Julia Droll (585lbs.), and Kaitlin Gordon (610 lbs.). Betty Ann Crew Moore was born in Orange Texas on January 19, 1927. She departed this world on February 17, 2016, to join her Heavenly Father and her husband, William ‘Red’ Moore, to whom she was married 56 years. Her daughter and son-in-law, Kathryne and Ron Rehfuss were by her side as she peacefully passed. Bridge Traffic Changes Feb. 26
A traffic detour for the Rainbow Bridge between Bridge City and Port Arthur will be put into place Friday, February 26, and last until the current maintenance project on the bridge is completed. The detour will allow for two lanes of traffic to travel north and one lane of traffic to travel south over the Veterans Memorial Bridge which runs parallel to the Rainbow Bridge. One lane of traffic will continue to flow over the Rainbow Bridge, however, it is anticipated that the Rainbow Bridge will be closed to all traffic on most weekends due to more extensive work taking place. UIL Decision Changes Schedules
Area coaches were scrambling Thursday afternoon after the UIL announced that Livingston High School had turned in false enrollment figures and has been reassigned for football. The UIL has taken them from 10-4A D2 with teams like Bridge City and Little Cypress-Mauriceville and moved them up to 22-5A with Vidor, thus creating a nine team district. This means any team that had Livingston on its schedule could see a change in the schedule, and the eight teams in 22-5A will have to drop a non-district opponent to add Livingston as a district game.
