The Mustangs went on a fantastic run in the post season last year as West Orange-Stark made it to the state championship game. Four key starters are coming back from that state finals team for Coach Shea Landry. Senior Payton Robertson will return at shortstop for the Mustangs and may have to pitch more this season. Last year the West Orange-Stark Lady Mustangs galloped out of the gate fast, but then struggled in the district when the games seem to get longer and obviously tougher. Coach Joseph Viator has most of his girls back from last season’s Lady Mustangs. Vidor Duo Advance to Stark Finals
Vidor High School students Nick Lewis and Hannah Odom earned first place in Declamation and Interpretive Reading, respectively, at the school-level finals of the 112th Miriam Lutcher Stark Contest in Reading and Declamation, a scholarship program sponsored by the Nelda C. and H.J. Orangefield Tennis team participated in the Orange County Varsity tournament last Friday. Advancing to the quarterfinals this week was Aaron Sprayberry in Boys “B” Singles as well as Mixed Doubles team Taylor Decker and Jeremy Broussard and Boys “A” Doubles, Slade Granger and Dakota Harrison. Orange Man Gets 52 Years
A man from Orange now has 52 years to serve in state prison for robbing elderly people after following them home from stores with pharmacies. 43-year-old Preston Joseph Robertson pleaded guilty in 260th State District Court to the 2014 robbery of a Little Cypress man. His punishment was set at 12 years to be added onto a 40-year sentence he received last year in Jefferson County. Grand Jury Indicts Mulvaney
The Orange County grand jury on Wednesday indicted 30-year-old Jeffrey Mulvaney on two counts of continuous sexual abuse of a child. Relatives of the victims said the two girls were 7 years old. The indictment documents accuse Mulvaney in one case of abusing the child from December 1, 2011, to January 1, 2013. The dates on the other case are from December 1, 2013, to December 1, 2014. His bond has been set at a total of $100,000, or $50,000 for each count.
