Terry Paul Harvey, 61, of Orange, passed away on Friday morning, March 4, 2016 at his home. A memorial service will be at 2:00 p.m., Sunday, March 6, 2016, at Claybar Funeral Home in Bridge City. Officiating will be Brother David Milner of Calvary Baptist Church in West Orange. Born in Kinder, LA on January 28, 1955, he was the son of Gordan Donald Harvey and Drucilla Marie (Chapman) Harvey. Pooping Perpetrator
The pooping perpetrator has pleaded guilty to burglary and a state district judge will decide his punishment. Assistant District Attorney Krispen Walker said the Orange County Sheriff's Office tracked down the burglar after finding human feces on the floor of a house that had the front door kicked it. A number of items had been stolen. Walker said the burglary was at a house on FM 1442 on April 11, 2013. At the time, a number of houses in an area along Interstate 10 had been hit by thieves kicking in doors. Keep On The Sunnyside
Responding to the complaint of a citizen during a city council meeting a couple months ago Bridge City is looking to do work on the drainage of Sunnyside. Heavy rain causes the water to flood Sunnyside. The pipes under several of the culverts on the street need to be replaced. City Manager Jerry Jones gave the estimate of the cost to replace the pipes and repair the culverts at about $8600 for the whole job. Jones said five driveways would be broken up to allow city crews to lay the new 15-inch pipes. Former Bears Doing Well
Two former LCM Lady Bears have earned starting spots on the Galveston College softball team. Angel Villanueva starts at second and Mikaela Stegall in left. They started conference play Mar. 2 at Lamar PA with two big wins. Run ruled them 12-1 in game 1, where Mikaela went 2 for 3 with 1 RBI and 2 stolen bases, and Angel went 2 for 3 as well. Game 2, Galveston won 13-6. Mikaela, who is batting leadoff for the Whitecaps, went 2-5 with a triple and Angel went 2 for 4 with a 3 run homerun and 4 RBIs. Judges Decision Moved To Monday
Orange City Hall has become squirrely and that's one of the reasons the city needs to move, according to the city manager. During a hearing Wednesday in state district court, information was revealed about the Orange City Council's decision to buy the First Financial Bank building on 16th Street and move city hall. The council made the decision during closed-door sessions and voted on the $2 million purchase deal without discussion. Bridge Detour Starts Saturday
The traffic detour for the Rainbow Bridge between Bridge City and Port Arthur will begin Saturday, March 5, weather permitting. The detour will last until the current maintenance project on the bridge is completed and will allow for two lanes of traffic to travel from Port Arthur to Bridge City, while one lane of traffic from BC to PA across the Rainbow Bridge and one lane from BC to PA across the Veterans Bridge. However, it is anticipated that the Rainbow Bridge will be closed to all traffic on most weekends due to more extensive work taking place.
