City Doesn’t Plan to Sue SRA
Orange City Attorney John Cash Smith said the city is not planning to sue the Sabine River Authority for the recent flooding of the Sabine River. Smith, who previously represented the river authority in lawsuits, said the river authority releases water from Toledo Bend dam based on federal guidelines and cannot be sued. The rescheduled public meeting on a hurricane protection system on the upper Texas Gulf Coast will be Thursday evening at the Orange County Expo Center on FM 1442. The meeting will be from 6 to 8 p.m. and will include a presentation of a plan for gulf storm protection in six counties. Orange County is a member of the Gulf Coast Community Protection and Recovery District. Other counties are Harris, Galveston, Chambers, Jefferson and Brazoria.
