The Orange Branch of the American Association of University Women (AAUW) presented its 22nd Annual Library Family of the Year Award to Janice and Russell Simmons at a ceremony at the Orange Public Library on April 23, 2016. Depot Groundbreaking
More than 100 people attended the ground-breaking ceremony to begin the restoration of the old Southern Pacific Railroad Depot in downtown Orange Saturday. The Friends of the Orange Depot under founder Carrie Joiner Woliver, an Orange native, raised $600,000 for the restoration. The depot was opened about 110 years ago as a place for passengers, freight and the U.S. mail. The depot will have a museum and a community room. Community Christian Jr. High kids went to Little White Crosses ministry in Pt. Neches, Tx on Thursday to paint crosses. The kids managed to have fun and paint 500 crosses. Early voting will start Monday for city councils, school boards and special districts having elections May 7. Early voting will end on Tuesday, May 3.
