After 31 years of working for the City of Orange, Finance Director, Gail English, has announced her retirement effective May 31, 2016. Mrs. English began working with the City of Orange as an Accounting Assistant on May 20, 1985. On January 2, 1987 she became the City Treasurer. That same year she graduated Magna Cum Laude from Lamar University where she received her Associate of Applied Science in Financial Accounting. Natatorium Open For Summer
The City of Orange has announced the reopening of the Natatorium for the summer season effective June 6, 2016. The Natatorium will be operational through August 12, 2016. The Natatorium offers adult swim and open swim activities. Adult swim will be open Monday through Friday from 6 A.M. to 8 A.M. The Greater Orange Area Chamber of Commerce recognized Demaric Judge as the Student of the Month. Demaric is a Senior at West Orange Stark High School where he is involved in power lifting, academic meets and is a Stark Reading Contest finalist. Spectators watch the launching of the five-masted wooden schooner "City of Orange" at a local shipyard during World War I. The ship burned in Marseilles, France, on May 29, 1919. A war had taken over Europe and "boys" from Orange were fighting "the Huns."
