The Mauriceville Middle School Twirlcatz are in their third year at the school and are improving with experience. City Makes Adjustments For Truck Wash
The city of Orange plans to begin annexing 5.3 acres along Highway 62 north of Interstate 10 to accommodate a Blue Beacon Truck Wash station. City Planning Director Kelvin Knauf said the business plans to hire 60 employees. On Tuesday, the City Council meets at 9 a.m. and will vote on a resolution to begin the annexation process. Knauf in a memo said multiple owners of the tract are requesting the annexation. If the annexation is approved, the land will automatically come into the city with a residential zoning designation. Bridge City could be getting a skilled nursing home in the near future. Jeff Rhodes the president of the Rhoman Group spoke to the City Council in Bridge City this week. Rhodes said his group is applying to the state for permission to build a 100-bed facility in Orange County. The Rhoman Group has applied for construction of the nursing home in Orange County. Rhodes admitted the application would allow construction anywhere in the county, but their corporate studies showed logistics and everything led back to Bridge City as the preferred site for the nursing home. Motorcycle Accident Claims Vidor Man
On August 3, 2016, at approximately 11:00p.m., the Texas Department of Public Safety was notified of a motorcycle crash on FM 2802 in Orange County. The crash occurred approximately three miles North of Vidor. A 1993 Harley Davidson motorcycle was traveling westbound on FM 2802 when it struck a black cow in the roadway. The driver, Robert George Cahill, 48, of Vidor was pronounced dead at the scene. Cahill was not wearing a helmet at the time of the crash.
