An investigation is underway but preliminary reports are that a house fire in Mauriceville started in the family’s fireplace.
Firefighters were called Wednesday morning to the home of Rene and Shelah Lemaire at 12124 Hwy. 12 in Mauriceville. They arrived to find fire and heavy smoke coming from the roof and chimney side of the home.
The occupants were able to get out safely. OCESD 4 was assisted by Little Cypress, Deweyville, and West Orange.
