Calls To Services (May 29, 2023, to June 4, 2023): The Newton County Sheriff’s Office (NCSO) answered 59 calls to service.
Jail Transports:
NCSO made 5 transports. 1 Transport from JCSO to NCSO and then back to JCSO, 1 transport from NCSO to JCSO, 2 transports from JCSO to NCSO.
HORSE CAMP: Our 2nd Annual Horse Camp at the Newton County Fairgrounds in Newton concluded on Thursday, June 1, 2023. There were 41 children who signed up and attend the two sessions. MISSING PERSON (LOCATED): On Saturday, June 3, 2023, at approximately 1447 hours, NCSO Dispatch Center received a report of a missing person in the vicinity south of Toledo Bend in the 1100 Block of Hwy 255Ea. A command site was established near this area to coordinate a search. Preliminary investigation revealed that the subject, Stephen Zolecki was last seen around 0900 on Saturday morning driving his side-by-side going to visit relatives.
Newton County Deputies, Burkeville VFB, members of Toledo Bend VFB, and Park and Wildlife Game Warden arrived on the scene to assist. As we were coordinating the locations to look for Mr. Zolecki, he was located. He was found at 1645 hours and appeared to be okay, and his side-by-side was high center or stuck and he was unable to get free. He was checked out on scene and provided fluids. I want to thank all the above agencies and residents who assisted us in and bringing Mr. Zolecki back home to safety.
NEWTON COUNTY COMMUNITY CALENDAR – JUNE 2023:
Volunteer Initiative Program (VIP)- The Blue Line Advocates will meet at the Sheriff’s Office on Thursday, June 8th, 2023 at 6pm. If you would like to become a member, please contact NCSO at (409)379-3636.
Bon Weir Community Watch Meeting on June 15th, 2023 at 7pm. This will be our second meeting and it is open to the public and is welcome to all who live in or near Bon Wier to attend.
